B’NAI MITZVAH TRAINING

As a URJ affiliated synagogue, Temple Solel is the home of the only Reform B’nai Mitzvah preparation program in Ft. Mill, SC.
Program Objectives:
1. Learn to read Hebrew in order to read from the Torah
2. Become familiar with how to lead prayers, songs, and order of service
3. Study Torah and Haftarah portions and write a d’var Torah
4. Complete a Mitzvah Project expressing tikkun olam, or repairing the world. A major objective of becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is being able to lead and actively participate in services. To be prepared, we recommend attending services as often as possible.
The first step in this process is regular participation in religious education where you will learn to read Hebrew, begin to familiarize yourself with rituals and prayers and what it means to live a Jewish life. Our handbook includes a two year timeline which outlines all of the steps to help you prepare for this special event. This is your special day and we want it to be spiritual and meaningful to you and your family.
